4 Things to Consider Before Purchasing Your First Vape Pen

Now that you have decided to start vaping, it is time to get your first vaporizer. There are so many options out there that you would spend a lot of time fishing through the choices. Thankfully, you can easily narrow down your options by basing your purchase on the following criteria: cost, what you want to vape, heating method, and portability.

  1. Cost.

First and foremost, what you are willing to spend will determine what you can buy. Starter kits can go for as little as $60 and can cost as much as a few hundred dollars or beyond! For every price point, there will be the perfect vaporizer for you. One of the most affordable options is a concentrate pen, which with a cartridge and battery would cost you $60. These are great to start out with due to their low cost and ease of use.

  1. What do you want to vape?

If you want to vape weed using a portable vaporizer, you can enjoy it with flowers or concentrate. Both ingredients do better with different types of vaporizers, so when you buy one, do thorough research first. For example, if you like to vape flowers, you need to make sure the vaporizer you are going to buy heats up the herbs just right.

If you plan to vape e-liquids, consider starting out with a more economic concentrate pen.

On a side note, make sure you pick up the correct accessories for the type of vaping you will be doing. For example, if you are vaping e-liquids, pick up a lot of different flavors to try to see what you like the best. If you plan to vape concentrate, investing in a few skillet tools will help you work the concentrate more efficiently. If you plan on using flowers, then you need a grinder to get them in your vaporizer’s herb chamber.

  1. Heating Method.

There are two ways that vaporizers heat up herbs and e-liquids:

  • Conduction – When your herbs or e-liquid is directly contacting the heat source.
  • Convection – Heat source is transferred indirectly toward the herbs or e-liquid (prevents flowers from combusting).

Because conduction vaporizers are in direct contact with the content you are vaping, there is a risk that the flowers you vape will not have an even burn. Though there are some conduction vaporizers that do the job well, it is generally more difficult to vape flowers with this heating method. However, stirring the herb around from time to time will help improve this type of vaping experience. If you plan on vaping concentrate or e-liquid, though, you should be fine with a conduction heating method.

Convection heating is more complex and therefore more expensive, but you will get a more quality vaping experience. Convection heated vaporizers also have better temperature controls and, as a result, better vapor quality. If you plan on vaping flowers or just want a premium vaping experience, we do recommend that you invest in a convection vaporizer.

  1. Portability.

If you plan on vaping mostly when you go out, you will need to invest in a portable vaporizer. But, if you would just like to vape in the comfort of your own home, then you will love a desktop vaporizer. However, since desktop units are costlier and cannot be taken with you, we do recommend that beginners get portable units because of their affordability. Because they can go where you go, so you can enjoy it at home or while out with friends, giving you many chances to try out vaping.

There’s a lot more to purchasing a vape pen than many people may realize, so assure you carefully consider all of your options. By taking on some of the above advice, you should be well on your way to making the best decision.
