Hydrology 9

Cloudious 9 has really push the limits of dry herb vaporization with the Hydrology 9, a one of a kind liquid filtration vaporizer.  The Hydrology 9 uses a hydraulic system that performs extremely well, giving the user excellent vapor quality with great taste and cool hits from the water filtration present on every draw. This top of the line vaporizer is priced at around $250 and is comparable, if not better in some ways, then the vaporizers in it’s price range.

Design

The Hydrology 9 is a unique design for a dry herb vaporizer, it’s a tall cylinder that stands 7’’ tall and is about 1.5’’ in diameter. Although it’s marked as a portable unit I wouldn’t say it is ideal for use outside the home, but it’s innovative features are like the Arizer Solo II making it a great vaporizer to use anywhere in your home with no strings attached. The Hydrology 9 also has a stirring device which sifts the bud in the chamber, when you spin the swivel on the top to the chamber, located at the bottom of the unit, this allows for a better heat distribution of the herb, so that the herb is vaped evenly. The Hydrology 9 is like a water bong vaporizer and would defiantly be a great replacement for a water bong smoker, who would be interested in converting from smoking to vaping. With it’s water filtered technology the Hydrology 9 definitely has a bong like feel while using it, as the water bubbles during every draw, filtering vapor from the chamber to deliver a smooth cool hit every pull. Cloudious equipped the Hydrology with a magnetic mouthpiece that has an anti-leak valve so if you happen to turn the unit upside down with water in it (which Cloudious 9 recommends you DO NOT DO too frequently) it won’t leak out the mouthpiece. There are also air intake vents that are adjustable to increase or decrease draw resistance, however when I adjusted them I didn’t notice too much of a difference. This vaporizer is a definitely a piece of art with it’s unique light cycles of bright vibrant LED colors, it makes it a party favorite that will have your guests in awe while passing it around in the living room.

Ease of Use

To turn on the Hydrology 9, press the white button located at the base of the unit 3 times fast and the LED lights will light up green. This units temperature settings run on a color coated system displayed by the LED lights in the chamber. The color code is as follows in order from lowest to highest:

  1. Blue
  2. Yellow
  3. Orange
  4. Purple
  5. Red

Scroll through the colors by tapping the button until the color of your choice appears. Once you select a color the selected LED color will blink as it heats up to that preset temperature and will turn green once it’s finished. To change between presets while vaping, cycle through the color presets the same way pressing the white button. Stir herb contents in the bottom chamber in between hits for full use of the product and even heat distribution.

Battery Life

Constructed with a 2000mAh lithium polymer battery, the Hydrology 9 is supposed to last around 15 sessions and take around 2 to 3 hours to charge according to Cloudious 9. In my personal experience, this is one of the major cons I have with the Hydrology. When first unboxing the unit, it took 5 to 6 hours for a full charge, which is double the time it’s supposed to take. Also, the life of the battery didn’t last me 15 sessions, in fact it died out at around 8 to 10 vaping each bowl at medium temperature (Orange). Along with the bulkiness of the unit, this factor of the battery life and charge time adds to it not being the best unit for portable use. However, the one thing I can say that helps with this con is that the unit does have pass through charging, which means you can use the device while on the charger, again making it ideal for home use as stated previously.

Final Thoughts

The Hydrology 9 is easy enough for rookie vape enthusiasts to use and packed with enough innovative features for the seasoned vape veteran to be pleased with. Although it’s not as portable as it’s other high priced heavyweight contenders, such as the PAX and the Davinci IQ, it offers a unique vaping experience that is one of a kind. Fast heat up time of 60 seconds from startup, a LED light cycle that creates a light show that is very visually appealing to users, it’s also very efficient in use of heating dry herb evenly in the chamber, and it far from lacks in vapor quality. A great centerpiece for your living room coffee table that will have all your vape friends jealous, the Hydrology 9 stands apart from your typical vaporizer and creates a new mold for future vaporizers to come. Priced at $250 if you want a GREAT vape to enjoy in your home this is the unit for you, but if you want to blow thick clouds of vapor outside of your home you might want to find another option for the price range to be honest. Either way I don’t think anyone could buy this unit and be totally disappointed it’s a work of art.
