V2 Pro Series 3 Vaporizer Review

The V2 Pro Series 3 is going to revolutionize the vaporizer industry. This is the first vape pen that is actually able to vaporize herbs instead of burning them or doing nothing at all. If you want a small, easily portable vape with good battery life, and one that can do e-liquids and concentrates as well as dry herbs, this is the vaporizer for you.

Let’s get to how it works.

How the V2 Pro Series 3 Works

To unlock the V2 Pro Series 3, you click the single button three times rapidly. This feature is essentially a lock that keeps the vaporizer from activating in your pocket more than it is an on and off switch, and it is a safety feature that most electronic cigarettes have.

Once you unlock the vape, it’s time to choose your cartridge. There are three cartridges to choose from, the E-Liquid cart, the loose leaf cart, and the essential oil cart. The device works a little differently with each cartridge:

E-Liquid Cartridge (included):

  1. Unscrew the mouthpiece from the cartridge and drip liquid into the clear chamber, making sure to not fill over the fill line.
  2. Insert the cartridge into the unit.
  3. Making sure the unit is unlocked, press the button and begin to vape.
  4. The device will automatically cut off after ten seconds to save battery life.

The e-liquid cart performs pretty admirably compared to most other “multi-use” pens, but it really does not compare to a stand alone unit. That being said, it is definitely on par with most beginner e-liquid setups on the market.

It has a fairly decent capacity (about 2.5-3 ml), and produces a decent amount of vapor.

If this unit had adjustable voltage, then I think it would be a much better vaping experience, at least with the e-liquid cart. However, anytime you gain something, something must be lost, so V2 decided to go for the “jack-of-all-trades” approach instead of being really good at one thing.

Loose Leaf Cartridge (sold separately): $24.99

  1. Grind or shred your herbs for optimal results.
  2. To pack, make sure to remove the mouth piece and fill with your ground herbs.
  3. Do not fill above the white ceramic chamber, and don’t pack too tightly or your herbs will vape unevenly.
  4. Place the mouth piece back on and insert the cart into the unit.
  5. Hold down the button for three seconds to activate the conduction heating function.
  6. Once activated, the LED lights at the bottom will glow red, then yellow, and finally green once it has heated fully. This should take around 25 seconds or so.
  7. The heating function will turn off after two minutes, and it can be immediately reactivated by repeating step 5.

As far as the vapor production and quality goes, there isn’t any other unit in this size that can actually vaporize herbs. The vapor is actually very flavorful, although it is not very dense.

The chamber holds roughly 0.1-0.2 grams, so it is highly efficient for how little it uses. A normal load is done after around four minutes, which is reactivating the heating function only one time.

The herbs are a golden brown color once it is vaped, and we will have a picture of some vaped herbs in our video review of this unit.

Wax Cartridge (sold separately): $24.99

  1. First, remove the coil from the base of the unit.
  2. Then, place your concentrate onto the coil.
  3. Replace the mouthpiece and insert the cartridge into the unit.
  4. Finally, simply take a hit in the same way you would hit the e-liquid cart.
  5. The battery will cut off after 10 seconds to conserve battery life.

While this cartridge does work, I personally think it is the worst of the three. It does not vape very efficiently at all, blowing through concentrate twice to three times as fast as most other pens do.

I would say for every hit out of this cartridge, you would get about 4 hits from a normal vape pen of this price. That is a massive difference, and should definitely be remedied in the next version.

The coil also lacks a wick, which means even more wasted material that you just cannot vape. Definitely a major con in my book.

Charging and Battery Life

To charge the unit, simply plug the magnetic charging cable into a USB port and connect the cable to the bottom of the unit. Once the LED on the bottom changes from red to greed, the battery is full.

It takes around 90 minutes to fully charge, and the unit is designed to be used while charging. You can get three or four sessions off one charge, so you really don’t need to worry about the vape dying on you while you’re away from a plug.

Where to Buy the V2 Pro Series 3?

If you’re looking to pick one of these up, you definitely want to grab it directly from V2’s website here. It’s the best deal we’ve seen online, they ship it for free, and you also know you’re getting the real deal by buying right from the manufacturer.

Along with that, you can buy some of the add-on items like the loose-leaf cartridge to do your dry herbs, some e-liquid, a car adapter, and a few other cool pieces.

Final Thoughts

The V2 Pro Series 3 is perfect for stealth vaping, as it looks like a regular electronic cigarette and doesn’t produce much visible vapor. You can also easily switch the cartridge from the loose leaf to the e-liquid cart, giving you instant cover. However, because of this small size, it also has a small capacity, so this is really for more of a solo vaper.

If you’re looking for an affordable pen vaporizer with stealth in mind, or a pen that can do dry herbs, this is the vape for you.

At $110 ($59.99 for the unit, $24.99 for the loose leaf cartridge, and $24.99 for the wax cartridge), this is one of the cheapest vaporizers on the market right now that can do dry herbs, concentrates, and e-liquid.

It is also one of the most versatile vaporizers as well, having three functions that you can switch between easily.

While the Series 3 may not be the best at everything, it does a lot. If you need a vape that can do it all, and you don’t want multiple units, this is probably one of the best vaporizers to buy.

The only better option would be this unit’s big brother, the V2 Pro Series 7.

    Hey Jake,

Love your reviews and this site man. Quick question for you, are you still using the V2 Pro Series 3? If so, how is it holding up? Does it still work well for loose-leaf? I’ve read a lot of people online having issues a few weeks or months after purchasing, and I’m worried about the long-term. Also, have you ever heard of or used the X-Max V2 Pro? Just curious. Thanks in advance for the help!

    • Jake says:

      I haven’t used the X-Max before, so I can’t comment on that.

However, parts of my V2 are still going strong, but some aren’t. As far as e-liquid goes, I go through those in about a month before they’re done. The dry herb cart I got about 4 months ago still works, but it’s about on its last legs.

I’d say that the dry herb should last you a few months if you maintain it, but it is by no means a long term vape. The cartridges were meant to be more or less disposable, so if you want a long term vape I would look at other options.

There isn’t much in that size or price range that’s really worth it, but for a little more money you could get a really reliable vape like the Arizer Air that will last you years without issues.

  2. Peri says:

I am trying to find which convenient stores in PA sell the dry leaf cartridge. I know that there are some that do.

  3. Meagan says:

I can’t find any information about the wax cartridge atomizer. Is it wickless, single coil? slow burning? etc Will it work for shatter? Can i use these attachments with a standard pen, or do i have to purchase the whole kit? Can you switch up which attachments are included: like if I must purchase a kit, can I customize for my needs? I have no use for the e-liquid cartridge. Just the dry and the concentrates (if it is in fact a good unit for shatter). Thanks!

    • Jake says:

It has a small silica wick in it, and it isn’t an extremely large chamber. You unfortunately have to buy the whole kit to use the tanks, but for dry herb and concentrates it’s a nice little package. And if you don’t need the e-liquid cart for getting of cigarettes, some people like to get zero mg e-liquid and do smoke tricks an me stuff. Just something to consider. It’s an all around great kit

  4. Will says:

Hi just wondering because you said it’s one of the few pens out there that actually vape, I’m not TOO fussed about discretion, I’d rather have a vaporizer that vaporizes AND has a good sized chamber to get a decent amount of erb in and not be too difficult to clean. Do you reckon this is the best vaporizer for that? Or do you have any better suggestions?

    • Jake says:

If you don’t care about discretion, get a vape with a bigger chamber and a bigger battery. You can check out our portable buyers guide for a bunch of portable options

  5. bree says:

Hey jw if this particular model is non toxic.

  6. Amber says:

    Hi there,

Would you still say that this is the best small vape on the market for dry herbs?

    • Jake says:

Well Amber, I wouldn’t say this is the “best small vape out there”. There are other vapes that are only slightly less portable and may actually vape better. However, the V2 Pro Series 3 is the only pen sized vape that can actually vape dry herbs, and it can do e-liquid very well too.

If you want a literal pen vape, this is the best one to get.

However, if you just want something portable, check out our Portable Buyer’s Guide to see the best ones.

  7. gjmski says:

I won one of the silver v2 pro 3 series from paintthemoon.com…..the e liquid cartridge is great….produces thick satisfying vapor consistently every press of the button…..the looseleaf cartridge does vape with no combustion…..however with just a .1 gm oven chamber….it best used as a means to maintain your buzz on the go…..with prepacked cartridges(hard to reload on the go)……….it also has some screens that get clogged easily and are hard to clean….overall because it does perform so well with e liquid….and it does actually have the ability to vape as well…..and you can use the vape pen while charging…..I give it a 3.5/5…..I might actually buy another one for my gf to use solely for e liquid….I am looking forward to the series 7 release with the much larger oven….

    • Jake says:

Glad you’re liking the V2! If you like it for e-liquid, check out our beginner ecig guide to see some ecigs that are actually higher quality than the V2.

  8. Medicinal Use says:

If I ordered this vaporizer from the official dealer right now, would it be shipped in a Timely manner? Also, is the vaporizer finally marked as a finished product or will not be held up in the factory?

    • Jake says:

They are now shipping normally and pretty quickly. They got all of the issues worked out a few weeks ago I believe. They have fine tuned the temp a bit higher, and people who own newer units say the clouds are huge. If you want a stealth vape, get this! It’s seriously an amazing unit.

  9. daniel says:

my order took almost 3 weeks to fulfill but i got it and it works great. the chamber is small and you have to repack it a lot but i wanted a discreet vape and its perfect for that. this one actually vaporizes instead of burning.

    • Jake says:

Yeah they had some problems early on, but they’re finally getting out units. Thanks for the input Daniel!

  10. gsmith says:

The factory can’t deliver in a timely manner. Said they are making sure the quality control standards are being met. You mean there is a defect? I pulled my order. We’ll see what the Series 9 might offer.
    The Dawg

    • Jake says:

They’re trying to dial the temperature in I think. I really wish they had finished this before putting the units up for sale. The Series 9 looks good, hopefully they can deliver.
